Buc Days

      I spoke to my grandma about what she thinks and remembers about Buc Days when she was growing up in Corpus Christi; her immediate response was "Buc Days was never this big!". My grandmother attended Buc Days with her siblings in the early 1960s, and at the time, the carnival was actually free to get in! She told me the rides weren't as complex as they were today. There were crazy flipping rides too but the protection of the rides was not as secure. For instance, the bars were all rusted down and the safety harnesses (the pads that come over your shoulders in order to prevent falling) were not that well padded.
      Buc Days comes to Corpus Christi, Texas for only two weeks throughout the year, giving the community a sense of encouragement to attend. Because of this, I believe the event is a great place to bond with the family and draw each other closer to their loved ones.
